Crocus speciosus ssp. speciosus

September, October flowering crocuses, found over a wide area in the wild in southern Europe to Iraq. The colour is variable but most common is lilac and purple.  Autumn-flowering crocuses prefer a summer dry and warm place and between stones. Plant immediately after arrival as they will flower this year. Wonderful in sparse lawns but also in pots and hanging baskets.
